Ingredients:

2 tsp olive oil
9g
4 beef fillets
640g
1 baguette (french bread)
88g
1/2 cup mayonnaise
120g
4 lettuce leaves
60g
1 carrot
60g
1/4 cup scallions
30g
1/2 cup coriander leaves
8g
2 red hot chili peppers
80g
1 tbsp soy sauce
16g

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Ingredients:
- Slice the baguette into four equal sections.
- Julienne the carrot (cut into thin, matchstick-sized pieces).
- Thinly slice the scallions and chili peppers.
- Tear the lettuce leaves into smaller pieces if they are too large.
- Roughly chop the coriander leaves.
2. Cook the Beef Fillets:
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season the beef fillets with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the beef fillets to the skillet, cooking each side for about 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or adjust the time according to your desired doneness.
- Once cooked, remove from the heat and let the fillets rest for a few minutes before slicing them thinly against the grain.
3. Prepare the Baguette:
- While the beef is resting, lightly toast the sliced baguette sections in the skillet or a toaster until they are golden brown and crisp.
4. Assemble the Rolls:
- Spread a generous amount of mayonnaise on the cut sides of each baguette section.
- Drizzle a small amount of soy sauce over the mayonnaise.
- Layer each baguette section with lettuce leaves, julienned carrot, scallions, coriander leaves, and sliced chili peppers.
- Finally, place the thinly sliced beef fillets on top of the assembled vegetables.
5. Serve:
- Press the top half of the baguette down gently.
- Serve the Vietnamese beef rolls immediately while the beef is still warm.

Tips:

- To achieve the best flavor, marinate the beef fillets in the soy sauce for at least 30 minutes before cooking.

- Slice the vegetables thinly and evenly to ensure they fit well within the rolls and provide a uniform texture.

- For added crunch, consider adding thinly sliced cucumber or bell peppers to the beef rolls.

- Use a sharp knife to cut baguette into equal pieces, enabling easier assembly and serving.

- If you prefer a milder flavor, deseed the chili peppers or replace them with a milder variety.

- Toast the baguette slightly to give it a crispy texture that complements the tenderness of the beef and the freshness of the vegetables.

- Experiment with different sauces, such as hoisin or sriracha, to add a unique twist to your Vietnamese beef rolls.

Vietnamese beef rolls offer a delightful combination of meaty, spicy, and fresh flavors wrapped in a convenient roll. They are perfect for any occasion, from casual gatherings to more formal dinners. Enjoy the unique flavors and healthy ingredients, and don't hesitate to experiment with the recipe to suit your taste preferences.
