Instructions:

1. Preheat and Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Mix the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine the self-raising flour and sugar. Add the softened butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add the milk, stirring until a soft dough forms.

In a separate bowl, combine the chopped walnuts, chopped almonds, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Mix well.
4. Roll and Fill:
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Evenly spread the nut and sugar mixture over the dough, pressing it gently to adhere.
5. Form the Scrolls:
Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice the log into 1-inch thick pieces and place them cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
6. Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the scrolls are golden brown.
7. Finish with Maple Syrup:
Remove from the oven and immediately brush the warm scrolls with the maple syrup. Allow to cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
