Cinnamon nut scrolls are a delightful pastry that combines the warmth of cinnamon with the crunch of mixed nuts, making for a perfect treat for breakfast or dessert. With easy-to-find ingredients and simple preparation steps, you'll be able to whip up these tasty scrolls in no time.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup self-raising flour
36g
1 tbsp sugar
16g
1/2 cup butter
110g
3/4 cup milk (1% fat)
180g
1 egg
50g
1 cup walnuts
230g
1/3 cup almonds
40g
1/3 cup brown sugar
72g
1 tsp cinnamon
3g
2 tbsp maple syrup
30g

Instructions:

1. Preheat and Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Mix the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine the self-raising flour and sugar. Add the softened butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add the milk, stirring until a soft dough forms.
3. Prepare the Filling:
In a separate bowl, combine the chopped walnuts, chopped almonds, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Mix well.
4. Roll and Fill:
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Evenly spread the nut and sugar mixture over the dough, pressing it gently to adhere.
5. Form the Scrolls:
Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice the log into 1-inch thick pieces and place them cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
6. Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the scrolls are golden brown.
7. Finish with Maple Syrup:
Remove from the oven and immediately brush the warm scrolls with the maple syrup. Allow to cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
8. Serve:
Enjoy your Cinnamon Nut Scrolls warm or at room temperature with a cup of coffee or tea!

Tips:

- Ensure the butter is at room temperature for easy mixing.

- Chop the walnuts and almonds finely to ensure they are evenly distributed in the scrolls.

- Use a light hand while mixing the dough to keep it tender and flaky.

- Roll the dough tightly to prevent it from unrolling while baking.

- Brush the scrolls with an extra layer of maple syrup before baking for a glossy finish.

By following these tips and instructions, you'll be able to enjoy delicious homemade cinnamon nut scrolls that are sure to impress your family and friends. Happy baking!
