Garlic flatbreads

Garlic flatbreads are a delicious and versatile addition to any meal. They are easy to make and packed with flavor from fresh thyme, rosemary, and garlic. These homemade flatbreads are perfect for dipping, serving alongside your favorite dishes, or even as a base for personal pizzas.

Ingredients:

1 tsp baking powder
5g
1 tsp salt
5g
1/2 cup greek yogurt
120g
1/3 cup milk (1% fat)
80g
2 garlic cloves
6g
2 tbsp fresh thyme
30g
2 tbsp rosemary
30g
2 tbsp olive oil
27g

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the baking powder, salt, Greek yogurt, and milk. Stir until the mixture forms a sticky dough.
- On a clean, floured surface, knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, you can add a bit more flour.
2. Flavor the Dough:
- Add the finely minced garlic, chopped thyme, and rosemary to the dough. Knead the dough for another 2-3 minutes to evenly distribute the herbs and garlic throughout.
3. Rest the Dough:
- Form the dough into a ball and place it back into the mixing bowl. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This allows the dough to relax and makes it easier to roll out.
4. Divide and Shape:
- Once the dough has rested, divide it into 4-6 equal portions, depending on how large you want your flatbreads to be.
- Roll each portion into a ball, then use a rolling pin to flatten each ball into a thin, round flatbread, about 1/4 inch thick.
5. Cook the Flatbreads:
- Heat a large non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add a small amount of olive oil (just enough to lightly coat the bottom of the pan).
- Place one flatbread into the skillet and cook until bubbles form on the surface and the bottom is golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
- Flip the flatbread and cook the other side for an additional 2-3 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Repeat with the remaining flatbreads, adding more olive oil to the skillet as needed.
6. Serve:
- Remove the cooked flatbreads from the skillet and let them cool slightly on a wire rack.
- Serve warm with your favorite dips, spreads, or alongside a hearty meal.

Tips:

- Ensure the baking powder is fresh for optimal rise in your flatbreads.

- Finely chop or grate the garlic to evenly distribute its flavor throughout the dough.

- Use fresh herbs for the most vibrant flavor, but dried herbs can be substituted if necessary.

- Rest the dough for about 10-15 minutes after mixing to allow the flour to hydrate properly.

- Cook the flatbreads on a hot skillet to achieve a nice, golden-brown crust.

- Brush the flatbreads with additional olive oil and herbs right after cooking for extra flavor.

These garlic flatbreads are not only simple to prepare but also incredibly tasty. The combination of Greek yogurt, fresh herbs, and garlic creates a soft yet flavorful bread that can complement a variety of dishes. Enjoy your homemade garlic flatbreads warm, right off the skillet, for the best experience.
