- Place the apple quarters in a large pot.
- Add enough water to cover the apples completely, approximately 4-5 cups (1 to 1.2 liters).
- Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
3. Simmer with Spices:
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the ground cinnamon and ground turmeric to the pot.
- Stir the spices into the water and apples.
- Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are soft and mushy.
4. Mash and Strain:
- Use a potato masher or a sturdy spoon to mash the apples in the pot, helping to release the juices and blend the flavors.
- Place a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth over another large pot or a pitcher. Carefully pour the mashed apples and liquid through the strainer, pressing down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible.
- Discard the apple solids left in the strainer.
5. Reheat the Cider:
- Pour the strained cider back into the pot.
- Warm the cider over low heat until it’s hot but not boiling, stirring occasionally to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.
6. Serve:
