Fast fish pie

Fast fish pie is a delightful and simple recipe that brings together the delicate flavors of white fish, vibrant vegetables, and the savory touch of prosciutto. Perfect for a quick and satisfying dinner, this pie combines a flaky puff pastry crust with a rich and nutritious filling. With a few easy steps, you can create a delicious and impressive dish that's sure to please everyone at the table.

Ingredients:

1.50 lb white fish
680g
1/4 cauliflower
250g
1 cup peas
120g
3 slices prosciutto
50g
1 tbsp dill
16g
2 tbsp lemon zest
30g
1 tbsp corn flour
16g
2 sheets puff pastry
500g
1 egg
50g
1 tsp sesame seeds
5g

Instructions:

1. Prep the Ingredients: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Gather and prepare all ingredients by cutting the white fish into cubes, chopping the prosciutto, and cutting the cauliflower into small florets.
2. Prepare the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the fish cubes, cauliflower florets, peas, chopped prosciutto, dill, lemon zest, and corn flour. Mix well to ensure the corn flour evenly coats the other ingredients. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
3. Roll Out the Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets if necessary to ensure they fit your baking dish. Place one sheet of puff pastry into the bottom of a lightly greased baking dish, allowing the edges to overhang.
4. Add the Filling: Pour the fish and vegetable mixture onto the pastry-lined baking dish. Spread it out evenly.
5. Top with Pastry: Place the second sheet of puff pastry over the filling. Press the edges of the top and bottom pastry sheets together to seal. Trim any excess pastry if needed.
6. Add Egg Wash & Sesame Seeds: Brush the top of the puff pastry with the beaten egg to help it turn golden brown as it bakes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for added flavor and texture.
7. Bake the Pie: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the filling is cooked through.
8. Cool & Serve: Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your fast fish pie!

Tips:

- Preheat your oven to ensure it reaches the right temperature before baking the pie.

- To save time, use store-bought puff pastry which works just as well as homemade.

- Ensure the fish is fresh and check for any bones before incorporating it into the pie.

- If you prefer a smoother texture, consider blending the cauliflower and peas into a puree before adding them to the filling.

- Brush the puff pastry with a beaten egg to achieve a golden, shiny crust.

- Sprinkle sesame seeds evenly on top of the puff pastry for an extra crunch and nutty flavor.

- Allow the pie to rest for a few minutes after baking to let the filling set and make it easier to slice.

Your Fast fish pie is now ready to serve. This dish is a wonderful blend of flavors and textures, from the tender fish and creamy vegetables to the crispy, golden puff pastry. Quick to prepare and bursting with fresh, delightful ingredients, this pie is sure to become a family favorite. Enjoy your delicious homemade fish pie!
