Autumn leaf biscuits

Autumn leaf biscuits are a delightful treat that encapsulates the flavors of the fall season. With ingredients like maple syrup and cinnamon, these biscuits provide a cozy and comforting experience. Perfect for holiday gatherings or a soothing snack with a warm beverage, these biscuits are sure to become a favorite.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter
110g
1/2 cup maple syrup
120g
1 egg white
33g
2.50 cups all-purpose white wheat flour
310g
1/2 cup self-raising flour
72g
1 tsp cinnamon
3g
1 tsp baking soda
5g
4 cup powdered sugar
640g
1 tbsp lemon juice
5g

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready for the biscuits when you're done preparing the dough.
2. Creaming the Butter and Maple Syrup:
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the 1/2 cup of butter and 1/2 cup of maple syrup. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
3. Add the Egg White:
Add the egg white into the creamed butter and maple syrup. Mix it thoroughly until it’s well combined.
4. Combine the Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose white wheat flour, 1/2 cup of self-raising flour, 1 tsp of cinnamon, and 1 tsp of baking soda.
5. Form the Dough:
Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Mix on low speed until everything is well incorporated and a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, you can add a little more flour until it reaches a manageable consistency.
6. Roll and Cut the Dough:
Lightly flour a clean countertop or rolling surface. Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Using leaf-shaped cookie cutters, cut out shapes and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
7. Bake the Biscuits:
Bake the biscuits in your preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Remove them from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
8. Prepare the Icing:
While the biscuits are cooling, prepare the icing. In a medium bowl, mix together 4 cups of powdered sugar and 1 tbsp of lemon juice. Add a little water a few drops at a time, mixing thoroughly until you reach your desired consistency for icing.
9. Decorate the Biscuits:
Once the biscuits are completely cool, decorate them with the icing. You can use a piping bag for detailed designs or simply spread the icing with a knife or spatula.
10. Serve and Enjoy:
Allow the icing to set completely before serving. Enjoy your beautiful and delicious Autumn Leaf Biscuits!

Tips:

- Ensure your butter is at room temperature. This helps in obtaining a smooth and consistent dough texture.

- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out. This prevents the biscuits from spreading too much during baking.

- If you prefer a stronger maple flavor, you can add a few drops of maple extract to the dough.

- When cutting out leaf shapes, dip your cookie cutter in flour to prevent sticking.

- Experiment with different spices like nutmeg or ginger for a unique flavor twist.

- For an added touch of elegance, you can drizzle a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and lemon juice over the cooled biscuits.

Voila! Your autumn leaf biscuits are ready to be enjoyed. These aromatic and delicious treats are sure to impress your family and friends. The blend of buttery goodness, coupled with the sweetness of maple syrup and a hint of cinnamon, makes them an irresistible fall delicacy.
