Beef and guinness stew

Beef and Guinness Stew is a hearty and flavorful dish perfect for cold weather. This traditional Irish stew combines tender beef with the rich, deep flavors of Guinness beer and a medley of vegetables. It's a comforting meal that is both satisfying and easy to prepare.

Ingredients:

2 tbsp all-purpose white wheat flour
30g
1.50 lb beef
680g
1/4 cup olive oil
60g
1 stalk celery
130g
1 onion
160g
1 carrot
60g
1 cup mushrooms
230g
2 tbsp tomato puree
30g
1 cup beer
230g
2 cups beef broth
500g
2 bay leafs
1.20g
1/2 cup fresh parsley
30g

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Beef:
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the beef chunks with the flour until the beef is evenly coated.
2. Sear the Beef:
- Heat the olive oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat.
- Add the flour-coated beef chunks to the pot and sear them on all sides until they're browned. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.
3. Sauté the Vegetables:
- Add the chopped celery, diced onion, sliced carrot, and sliced mushrooms to the same pot.
- Cook the vegetables until they begin to soften, about 5 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking or burning.
4. Add the Tomato Puree:
- Stir in the tomato puree and cook for about 2 more minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
5. Combine Ingredients:
- Return the seared beef to the pot.
- Pour in the Guinness beer, stirring to deglaze the pot, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.
6. Simmer the Stew:
- Add the beef broth and bay leaves to the pot. Stir to combine all the ingredients.
- Bring the stew to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
- Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender and the flavors have melded together.
7. Finish the Stew:
- Taste the stew and season with salt and pepper if necessary.
- Stir in the chopped fresh parsley just before serving.
8. Serve:
- Remove the bay leaves before serving.
- Serve the stew hot, accompanied by crusty bread or over mashed potatoes for a complete meal.

Tips:

- Cut the beef into uniform pieces to ensure even cooking.

- Dredge the beef in flour before browning; this helps thicken the stew.

- Use a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven for better heat distribution.

- Allow the stew to simmer slowly; this makes the beef tender and melds the flavors together.

- If you prefer a thicker stew, let it simmer uncovered for the last 30 minutes.

- Adding the fresh parsley at the end enhances the flavor and adds a touch of color.

Enjoy your Beef and Guinness Stew with some crusty bread or mashed potatoes for a complete and comforting meal. This stew not only warms the body but also brings an authentic taste of Irish cuisine right to your table. Don't forget to garnish with the fresh parsley for an added touch of freshness.
