Cranberry stuffing balls

Cranberry stuffing balls are a delightful twist on traditional stuffing, perfect for adding a pop of color and a burst of flavor to your holiday table. Made with prosciutto, dried cranberries, and aromatic sage, these stuffing balls are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, making them a crowd-pleasing side dish that pairs well with any festive meal.

Ingredients:

3 slices prosciutto
50g
1 tbsp olive oil
14g
1/2 red onion
80g
2 garlic cloves
6g
2 cups bread crumbs
180g
1/2 cup dried cranberries
72g
1 egg
50g
1 tbsp sage
16g
1/4 cup butter
54g

Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
2. Cook Prosciutto:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped prosciutto and cook until it becomes crispy, about 5 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
3. Sauté Onions and Garlic:
- In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Once heated, add the finely chopped red onion and sauté until it becomes soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant. Remove from heat.
4. Combine Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread crumbs, cooked prosciutto, sautéed onions and garlic, dried cranberries, beaten egg, and chopped fresh sage. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed.
5. Add Melted Butter:
- Drizzle the melted butter over the mixture. Stir until the bread crumbs are moistened and everything is well combined.
6. Form Stuffing Balls:
- Using your hands or a spoon, form the mixture into balls about the size of a golf ball. Place each ball onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
7. Bake:
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the stuffing balls are golden brown and cooked through.
8. Serve:
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. These cranberry stuffing balls make a wonderful side dish for holiday meals or any special dinner. Enjoy!

Tips:

- For extra flavor, toast the bread crumbs in a skillet with a bit of butter before incorporating them into the mixture.

- Finely chop the dried cranberries to ensure they are evenly distributed throughout the stuffing balls.

- To prevent the stuffing balls from falling apart, make sure the mixture is well combined before shaping them. If the mixture is too dry, you can add a little chicken broth or water.

- If you prefer a more uniform size, use an ice cream scoop to shape the stuffing balls before baking.

- These stuffing balls can be made ahead of time. Simply prepare them, place on a baking sheet, cover, and refrigerate until you’re ready to bake.

Cranberry stuffing balls are a festive and flavorful addition to any holiday spread. The slight sweetness from the cranberries, combined with the savoriness of prosciutto and sage, makes for a well-balanced and delectable side dish. Enjoy these stuffing balls alongside your favorite holiday dishes and watch them disappear in no time!
