Mushroom burgers

Mushroom burgers are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional meat-based patties. Perfect for vegetarians and those looking to reduce their meat intake, these burgers combine the umami-rich flavor of mushrooms with a few simple ingredients. Follow this recipe to create a savory and satisfying meal that's sure to impress your family and friends.

Ingredients:

2 tbsp oyster sauce
36g
1 onion
150g
1 lb mushrooms
450g
2 slices white bread
50g
1 dash salt
0.40g
1 dash black pepper
1/10g
1 egg
54g

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Ingredients:
- Onion: Peel and finely chop the onion.
- Mushrooms: Clean and finely chop the mushrooms.
- Bread: Tear the bread slices into small pieces or crumble them with your hands.
2. Cook the Vegetables:
- Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add a small amount of oil.
- Add the chopped onion to the pan and sauté until it becomes translucent, around 5 minutes.
- Add the chopped mushrooms to the pan. Cook until the mushrooms are soft and all the moisture has evaporated, about 10 minutes. Transfer the cooked onions and mushrooms to a large bowl and let them cool slightly.
3. Blend the Mixture:
- Transfer the cooled onion and mushroom mixture to a food processor or blender. Add the crumbled bread, oyster sauce, salt, and black pepper.
- Blend the mixture until it is finely chopped and well combined but still has some texture.
4. Form the Patties:
- Return the mixture to the large bowl. Add the egg and mix well to combine everything uniformly.
- Shape the mixture into patties, using your hands. Aim for a size appropriate for burger buns, about 4-6 patties depending on your preferred thickness.
5. Cook the Patties:
- Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add a little oil.
- Place the mushroom patties in the pan and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown and firm to the touch.
6. Serve:
- Serve the mushroom patties on burger buns with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheese, ketchup, or mustard.

Tips:

- When chopping the mushrooms and onions, try to make them as fine as possible for a better texture in your burger patties.

- Consider using a food processor to chop the mushrooms and onions quickly and uniformly.

- Add a variety of mushrooms such as cremini, portobello, or shiitake to enhance the flavor profile.

- Ensure that the mixture is well-combined and holds together when forming the patties; adding a bit more bread or an additional egg can help if the mixture is too loose.

- Cook the patties on medium heat to make sure they cook evenly and develop a nice crust without burning.

Mushroom burgers offer a nutrient-rich and flavorful alternative to regular hamburgers. By using simple, fresh ingredients, you can create a tasty and filling burger that's perfect for any meal. Enjoy your homemade mushroom burgers with your favorite toppings and sides for a complete and satisfying dining experience.
