Discover a delightful fusion of flavors with our Rum and Maple Steak, accompanied by quick and easy fries. This recipe combines the rich taste of beef with the caramel-like sweetness of maple syrup and the distinctive kick of rum. Perfect for a special dinner or an indulgent weekend treat, this dish is sure to impress both family and friends.

Ingredients:

3 potatoes
600g
1.50 lb beef
680g
2 tbsp olive oil
27g
1/3 cup rum
72g
1/3 cup maple syrup
72g
1 tbsp vinegar
16g
1 tbsp mustard
16g

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Potatoes:
- Wash and peel the potatoes.
- Cut the potatoes into thin strips to form fries.
- Rinse the fries in cold water to remove excess starch, and then pat them dry thoroughly with a clean towel.
2. Cook the Fries:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the fries to the skillet in a single layer. Cook until golden brown and crispy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove the fries from the skillet and set them aside, keeping them warm.
3. Prepare the Steak:
- Season the beef with salt and pepper on both sides.
- In the same skillet, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the beef to the skillet and cook to your desired level of doneness. For medium-rare, cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, depending on the thickness of the steak.
4. Create the Rum and Maple Glaze:
- While the steak is cooking, mix the rum, maple syrup, vinegar, and mustard in a bowl until well combined.
- Once the steak is cooked, remove it from the skillet and let it rest on a plate.
5. Finish the Dish:
- Lower the heat to medium and pour the rum and maple glaze mixture into the skillet.
- Let it simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3-4 minutes.
- Once the glaze has thickened, return the steak to the skillet and coat it with the glaze for about 1 minute on each side.
6. Serve:
- Slice the steak into serving portions.
- Arrange the steak slices on a plate and drizzle with the remaining rum and maple glaze from the skillet.
- Serve alongside the crispy fries.

Tips:

- Ensure the beef is at room temperature before cooking to achieve an even sear.

- Use a meat thermometer to check for desired doneness: 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, 140°F (60°C) for medium.

- Cut the potatoes into evenly sized pieces for more consistent cooking.

- Soak the potato pieces in cold water for about 30 minutes before frying to remove excess starch and achieve crispier fries.

- Let the steak rest for a few minutes after cooking to allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.

Enjoy the harmonious blend of flavors that the rum and maple steak brings to your table. The simplicity of the fries complements the rich, complex taste of the steak, making this meal both delicious and easy to prepare. Whether you're cooking for yourself or entertaining guests, this recipe is a surefire way to satisfy and delight.
