Ingredients:
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp brown sugar
1 yolk
1 tsp milk (1% fat)
1/4 cup butter
2 apples
1 cup almonds
2 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp sugar
Apple, cinnamon, and almond swirls with a honey glaze are a delightful combination of warm spices, sweet apples, and crunchy almonds. This recipe is perfect for a cozy breakfast or a delicious snack. The honey glaze adds an extra layer of sweetness and a beautiful shine to these tasty treats.
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Ingredients:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Prepare the Apples:
- Peel, core, and finely chop the apples. Set aside.
3. Toast the Almonds:
- In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the almonds until they are golden brown and fragrant. Allow them to cool slightly, then roughly chop them.
4. Make the Filling:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped apples, toasted almonds, 2 tsp of cinnamon, and 2 tsp of brown sugar. Mix well to combine.

6. Spread Butter:
- Melt 1/4 cup of butter and brush it evenly over the surface of the rolled-out dough.
7. Add Filling:
- Evenly spread the apple, cinnamon, and almond filling over the buttered surface of the dough.
8. Roll and Slice:
- Carefully roll the dough up tightly like a jelly roll, starting from one of the longer edges.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into 1-inch thick slices and place them cut-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
9. Prepare Egg Wash:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and 1 tsp of milk.
- Brush the egg wash over the top of each swirl to give them a beautiful golden color as they bake.
10. Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the swirls are golden brown and fully cooked through.
11. Make the Honey Glaze:
- In a small saucepan over low heat, combine 2 tbsp of honey, 2g of vanilla extract, and 1 tbsp of sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
- Alternatively, you can heat the mixture in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until the sugar dissolves.
12. Glaze the Swirls:
- Remove the swirls from the oven and allow them to cool for just a few minutes.
- While they are still warm, drizzle the honey glaze over the swirls.
13. Serve:
- Serve the apple, cinnamon & almond swirls warm as a delicious breakfast treat or dessert. Enjoy!
