Ingredients:

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Pie Crust:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1.25 cups of all-purpose white wheat flour and 2 tbsp of dry cocoa powder.
2. Add the cold butter pieces to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your hands, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
3. Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough starts to come together. Be careful not to overwork the dough.
4. Form the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
2. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
3. Roll Out the Dough:
1. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a circle large enough to fit into a 9-inch pie pan.
2. Transfer the dough to the pie pan, gently pressing it into the bottom and up the sides. Trim any excess dough from the edges.
3. Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork to prevent it from puffing up during baking.
4. Blind Bake the Crust:
1. Line the crust with parchment paper and fill it with pie weights or dried beans.
2. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
3. Remove the parchment paper and weights, and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Set aside to cool.
5. Prepare the Filling:
1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the 1/2 cup of butter.
2. Once melted, remove the saucepan from heat and add 1 cup of dark chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
3. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the egg, maple syrup, and brown sugar until well combined.
4. Gradually pour the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to avoid cooking the egg.
6. Assemble the Pie:
1. Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled pie crust.
2. Scatter the pecans evenly over the top of the filling.
7. Bake the Pie:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the pecans are golden.
8. Prepare the Caramel Topping:
1. In a small saucepan, heat 1/3 cup of heavy whipping cream until it just begins to simmer.
2. Remove from heat and stir in 1/3 cup of brown sugar until dissolved.
3. Allow the caramel to cool slightly before drizzling over the top of the baked pie.
9. Cool and Serve:
- Allow the pie to cool completely at room temperature before slicing and serving.
