Lettuce wrapped cheeseburger

Lettuce wrapped cheeseburgers offer a healthier alternative to traditional buns without sacrificing the savory, juicy taste of cheeseburgers. Perfect for those on low-carb diets or anyone looking to add more greens to their meals, this recipe balances the flavors of beef, cheddar cheese, and fresh vegetables, all encased in crisp lettuce leaves.

Ingredients:

1 tsp vegetable oil
4.67g
2 lb ground beef (80/20%)
910g
1/4 tsp salt
1.50g
1 tsp black pepper
2.10g
1 tsp dried oregano
1.80g
5 tbsp ketchup
72g
2 tomatoes
250g
12 leafs lettuce
180g
6 oz cheddar cheese
170g
1/4 cup mayonnaise salad dressing
60g
1 tbsp pickle relish
16g

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Ground Beef Mixture:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, and dried oregano. Mix well until the seasonings are evenly distributed throughout the meat.
2. Shape the Patties:
- Divide the ground beef mixture into 6 equal portions. Shape each portion into a burger patty, making sure they are all uniformly thick for even cooking.
3. Preheat the Skillet:
- Heat 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
4. Cook the Patties:
- Once the oil is hot, place the burger patties into the skillet. Cook each patty for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes on the other side, or until the internal temperature reaches at least 160°F (71°C) for a safe-to-eat burger.
- During the last minute or so of cooking, add a slice of cheddar cheese to each patty, allowing it to melt nicely over the top.
5. Prepare the Condiments:
- While the patties are cooking, mix the mayonnaise salad dressing and pickle relish in a small bowl. This will be your burger sauce.
6. Prepare the Lettuce Wraps:
- Wash and pat dry the lettuce leaves. You will need two leaves per burger to ensure they are sturdy enough to hold the patty and toppings.
7. Slice the Tomatoes:
- Wash and slice the tomatoes into 1/4-inch thick slices.
8. Assemble the Lettuce Wrapped Cheeseburgers:
- Place two lettuce leaves on a clean, flat surface. Add a cooked cheeseburger patty onto the lettuce leaves.
- Add a spoonful of the mayonnaise-pickle relish mixture on top of the patty.
- Place a slice or two of tomato on top of the sauce.
- Top it off with a dollop of ketchup.
9. Wrap and Secure:
- Gently fold the lettuce leaves around the burger to create a wrap. Secure with a toothpick if needed to hold everything in place.
10. Serve:
- Serve the lettuce wrapped cheeseburgers immediately while they are hot. Enjoy them with your favorite sides!

Tips:

- For optimal flavor, allow the ground beef mixture to rest for a few minutes before grilling. This enhances the blend of spices and seasoning.

- Use high-quality, sharp cheddar cheese for a richer flavor that complements the juicy beef.

- Ensure the lettuce leaves are large and sturdy enough to hold all the toppings securely. Iceberg or butterhead lettuce are good choices.

- You can add a variety of toppings like caramelized onions, avocado slices, or even bacon for extra flavor and texture.

- If you find the patty too greasy, place it on a paper towel for a few seconds to absorb excess oil before wrapping it in the lettuce.

Enjoy your delicious and healthy lettuce wrapped cheeseburgers! This guilt-free, low-carb option is perfect for any meal, whether you're serving it for lunch, dinner, or at a casual gathering with friends and family. Savory, juicy, and nutritious, it's an easy way to indulge without the extra carbs.
