Parmesan & paprika twists

Parmesan & paprika twists are a delicious and savory snack that makes for a great appetizer or party treat. These crispy twists are seasoned with Parmesan cheese, paprika, and a hint of salt, making them irresistibly flavorful. Follow this recipe to create your own batch of these tasty twists at home.

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Prepare the Egg Wash:
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and milk until well combined. Set aside.
3. Combine Ingredients:
In a mixing bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese and salt. If you are using paprika, add it to the mixture as well.
4. Add Wet Ingredients:
Slowly pour in the olive oil and water, stirring continuously until the mixture forms a dough.

- Note: If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more Parmesan cheese; if it is too dry, add a tiny bit more water.
5. Roll Out the Dough:
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangular shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
6. Cut the Dough:
Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into strips approximately 1/2 inch wide and 4-5 inches long.
7. Twist the Strips:
Take each strip and twist it gently to form a spiral shape. Place the twisted strips onto the prepared baking sheet.
8. Brush with Egg Wash:
Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the top of each twist with the egg wash. This will give the twists a beautiful golden color and help them become crispy.
9. Bake:
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the twists are golden brown and crisp.
10. Cool and Serve:
Remove the twists from the oven and allow them to cool slightly on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Tips:

- Be sure to preheat your oven to the optimal temperature to ensure the twists bake evenly and become perfectly crispy.

- Handle the dough with care to avoid overworking it, which can result in a tougher texture.

- For an extra kick, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix.

- Brush the twists with a bit of egg wash before baking to achieve a beautiful golden-brown color.

- If you like, sprinkle some additional grated Parmesan on top of the twists before baking.

By following these steps, you can easily whip up a batch of Parmesan & paprika twists that are sure to impress your guests. Enjoy them as a standalone snack or pair them with your favorite dips for an extra burst of flavor. Happy cooking!
