- Add the sliced red onion and cook for about 3-4 minutes until it starts to soften.
- Add the minced garlic and sliced red pepper. Stir well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and all the vegetables are nicely softened. Remove the vegetable mix from the skillet and set aside.
3. Cook the Beef Steak:
- In the same skillet, add a bit more olive oil if necessary and heat over medium-high.
- Add the beef steak and sear on each side for about 3-4 minutes, or until it reaches your preferred level of doneness (internal temperature of 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium, etc.).
- Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board.
4. Combine and Simmer:
- Return the vegetables to the skillet and add the 2 cups of pasta sauce.
- Stir well to combine and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes to meld all the flavors together.
5. Serve:
- While the sauce is simmering, slice the rested steak into thin strips.
- Add the steak strips back into the skillet, nestling them into the sauce and vegetables. Allow the steak to heat through for 1-2 minutes.
