Instructions:

1. Prepare the Ingredients:
- Thinly slice the red onions.
- Slice the mushrooms.
- Chop the fresh parsley.
- Grate the Parmesan cheese if not already grated.
2. Cook the Pasta:
- Boil a large pot of salted water.
- Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
- Drain the pasta, reserving about 1 cup of the pasta water. Set aside.
3. Sauté the Vegetables:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add the olive oil.
- Add the sliced red onions and cook until softened and translucent, about 5–7 minutes.
- Stir in the capers and mushrooms. Continue to cook until the mushrooms are tender and golden brown, about 5–7 minutes.
4. Combine Pasta and Vegetables:
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the vegetables.
- Toss well to combine. If the pasta is too dry, add a little of the reserved pasta water, a tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
5. Add Fresh Ingredients and Seasonings:
- Stir in the chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
6. Serve:
- Divide the pasta among plates.
- Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
