Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish (about 2-quart capacity).
2. Prepare the Batter:
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the self-raising flour and cocoa powder. Stir to combine.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth, but be careful not to overmix.
3. Add Brown Sugar:
- Once the batter is smooth, gently fold in the brown sugar until just combined.
4. Transfer to Baking Dish:
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.

- If you desire a richer sauce, you can prepare a sauce by mixing 1/4 cup (25g) of cocoa powder with 1/2 cup (110g) of brown sugar. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the baking dish.
- Carefully pour 1 1/2 cups (375ml) of boiling water over the whole dish. Do not stir.
6. Bake:
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes. The top of the pudding should be firm to touch and an inserted toothpick should come out clean or with just a few moist crumbs.
- The center will be a saucy, rich chocolate pudding.
7. Cool and Serve:
- Let the pudding cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. This allows the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Serve warm, scooping the pudding into bowls, and adding vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
