Ingredients:

2/3 cup butter

Instructions:

1. Preheat and Prepare:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
2. Melt Butter and Chocolate:
- In a heatproof bowl, combine the butter and dark chocolate.
- Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method), ensuring the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water.
- Stir occasionally until both butter and chocolate are completely melted and smooth.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
3. Mix Wet Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, crack in the 5 eggs.
- Add the sugar to the eggs.
- Using an electric mixer or whisk, beat until the mixture becomes pale and thick. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
4. Combine with Chocolate Mixture:
- Slowly pour the cooled chocolate and butter mixture into the egg and sugar mixture.
- Gently fold it in using a spatula until well combined.
5. Add Dry Ingredients:
- Sift the flour and dash of salt over the wet mixture.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet until there are no visible streaks of flour. Be careful not to overmix as this can result in a dense cake.
6. Bake:
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs.
7. Cool:
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, carefully take the cake out of the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
