Ingredients:

1 cup milk (1% fat)
240g
1 tsp yeast
5g
1 cup butter
220g
2 eggs
100g
2 tsp cinnamon
6g
3/4 cup brown sugar
170g
3 cup pecans
360g
1/2 cup maple syrup
120g
1 cup powdered sugar
160g

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dough:
1. Warm the milk to about 110°F (43°C), ensuring it is not too hot to touch, as this can kill the yeast.
2. Dissolve the yeast in the warm milk and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
3. In a large bowl, combine the yeast mixture with 1 egg and 1/3 cup (75g) of melted butter. Mix well.
4. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a smooth dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes elastic and smooth.
5. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours until it has doubled in size.
2. Prepare the Filling:
1. In a medium bowl, combine 1/2 cup (110g) of softened butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar until well-mixed.
2. Mix in the chopped pecans for an even distribution.
3. Assemble the Buns:
1. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle approximately 16x20 inches.
2. Spread the prepared filling evenly over the rolled-out dough.
3. Starting from one of the longer edges, tightly roll the dough into a log.
4. Cut the log into 12 even slices and place each slice into a greased baking pan or muffin tin.
5. Cover the buns and let them rise again for 30-45 minutes until they have visibly increased in size.
4. Bake the Buns:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Bake the buns for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
3. While the buns are baking, combine the maple syrup with the remaining melted butter.
4. Brush the maple syrup mixture over the buns immediately after removing them from the oven for added flavor and gloss.
5. Prepare the Glaze:
1. Combine the powdered sugar with 1-2 tablespoons of milk to achieve a thick but pourable consistency.
2. Drizzle the glaze over the warm buns before serving.
6. Serve:
- Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your Swedish Pecan and Cinnamon Buns warm for the best taste experience!

Tips:

- Make sure your yeast is fresh and active. If in doubt, you can proof it by mixing it with a bit of warm milk and a pinch of sugar and waiting for it to foam up before adding it to the recipe.

- To enhance the flavor, toast the pecans lightly in a dry pan before using them in the recipe.

- Allow the dough to rise in a warm, draft-free environment. If your kitchen is cold, you can place the dough in the oven with just the oven light on to provide a bit of warmth.

- When rolling out the dough, try to make it as even as possible to ensure uniform buns.

- Be generous with the filling to ensure every bite is bursting with flavor.

- For a glossy finish, brush the tops of the buns with a beaten egg before baking.

- Drizzle the powdered sugar icing while the buns are still warm for a lovely, melt-in-the-mouth effect.

Once your Swedish pecan and cinnamon buns are ready, let them cool slightly before serving. The combination of soft, fluffy dough with the crunch of pecans and the sweet, sticky topping is absolutely irresistible. These buns are best enjoyed fresh from the oven but can also be stored in an airtight container for a few days. Enjoy your homemade Swedish buns with a cup of coffee or tea, and savor every bite of this delightful treat.
