Christmas bells

Christmas Bells are a delightful and festive treat that embody the essence of the holiday season. With a blend of buttery goodness, a hint of honey, and the warm spice of cinnamon, these cookies are perfect for sharing with loved ones or enjoying with a warm cup of cocoa. Their charming bell shape adds a touch of holiday cheer to any dessert table.

Ingredients:

1 cup butter
220g
1/2 cup powdered sugar
80g
1/3 cup honey
80g
2 cups all-purpose white wheat flour
250g
1/3 cup self-raising flour
50g
1 tsp cinnamon
3g
2 tbsp milk (1% fat)
30g
2 egg whites
63g
1/4 cup powdered sugar
40g
1 tbsp lemon juice
5g

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicon mats.
2. Prepare the Cookie Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Add the honey and mix until well combined.
3. Add Dry Ingredients:
- In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, self-raising flour, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
4. Add Milk:
- Stir in the 2 tbsp of milk to the dough to make it pliable and easy to roll out.
5. Roll and Cut:
- Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Use bell-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving a little space between each cookie.
6. Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
7. Prepare the Icing:
- In a medium-sized bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Gradually add in the 1/4 cup powdered sugar and 1 tbsp lemon juice, continuing to beat until smooth and glossy.
8. Decorate:
- Once the cookies are completely cool, use a piping bag or a small spoon to decorate them with the prepared icing.
- Allow the icing to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes to an hour before serving or storing.
9. Serve and Enjoy:
- Enjoy your Christmas bell cookies with family and friends, or package them as festive gifts!

Tips:

- Ensure the butter is at room temperature before you start mixing. This helps in achieving a smooth and well-incorporated dough.

- When adding the powdered sugar, sift it first to avoid lumps in your dough.

- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out. This makes it easier to handle and helps the cookies hold their shape while baking.

- Use a cookie cutter in the shape of a bell to get the festive look. If you don't have one, you can be creative with any holiday-themed cutter.

- Make sure to watch the cookies closely while baking. Since they are delicate, they can easily overbake. Remove them from the oven as soon as the edges begin to turn golden.

- For a more pronounced cinnamon flavor, consider adding a pinch more cinnamon than the recipe calls for, according to your taste preference.

- Once baked, allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. This helps them set and prevents breaking.

These Christmas Bells cookies are not only delicious but also visually appealing, making them a perfect addition to your holiday baking lineup. Their unique flavor and lovely appearance will surely impress your guests and spread joy during the festive season. Enjoy these cookies fresh from the oven or as a delightful gift wrapped with care.
