Martha's flourless chocolate-walnut torte

Indulge in the rich, decadent flavors of Martha’s flourless chocolate-walnut torte. This gluten-free dessert seamlessly blends dark chocolate, walnuts, and a hint of cocoa to create a luscious treat that’s perfect for any special occasion.

Ingredients:

1/3 cup dry cocoa powder
50g
2 tbsp walnuts
30g
1 tsp coconut oil
5g
1/3 cup dark chocolate
72g
1.50 cups sugar
300g
4 eggs
200g
1 tsp vanilla extract
4g
1 tsp salt
5g

Instructions:

1. Prepare the oven:
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Grease an 8-inch (20 cm) round springform pan with coconut oil and line the bottom with parchment paper.
2. Toast the walnuts:
- Place the walnuts on a baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes until they are fragrant and slightly darker. Be careful not to burn them. Remove from the oven and let them cool.
- Once cool, finely chop the walnuts and set aside.
3. Melt the chocolate:
- In a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method), melt the dark chocolate. Stir occasionally until smooth.
- Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate in the microwave in 20-second increments, stirring after each session until it's fully melted and smooth.
- Remove the chocolate from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
4. Mix the wet ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together using an electric mixer on medium-high speed until the mixture is thick, pale, and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the vanilla extract and melted chocolate to the egg mixture, and gently fold until all the ingredients are well combined.
5. Incorporate dry ingredients:
- Sift in the cocoa powder and salt over the wet mixture to avoid lumps.
- Gently fold the sifted dry ingredients into the wet mixture until everything is just combined.
- Add the chopped toasted walnuts and fold them into the batter.
6. Bake the torte:
- Pour the batter into the prepared springform pan, spreading it out evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the torte is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
7. Cool and Serve:
- Remove the torte from the oven and let it cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 10-15 minutes.
- Carefully run a knife around the edge of the torte to loosen it from the pan, then remove the sides of the springform pan.
- Let the torte cool completely before transferring it to a serving plate.
8. Optional: You can dust the top with a light coating of cocoa powder or powdered sugar just before serving.

Tips:

- Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature before mixing; this helps with even blending.

- Use high-quality dark chocolate to enhance the flavor and richness of the torte.

- Line the baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and allow for easy removal.

- Allow the torte to cool completely in the pan before transferring to a wire rack to prevent breaking.

- Dust with cocoa powder or garnish with fresh berries for an elegant presentation.

Martha’s flourless chocolate-walnut torte is a show-stopping dessert that is surprisingly simple to make. With rich, intense chocolate flavor and a delightful nutty undertone, this torte is sure to impress your guests and satisfy any sweet tooth.
